With summer just getting started, many people have road trips planned. Some will be driving for a few hours and some will be driving for days but wherever you are going, we wanted to give you some road trip, detox approved snack ideas!
* Hummus and Veggies! One of our favorite on the go snacks can easily be transported in a cooler and you can pre-cut vegetables before your trip or throw in a bag of baby carrots and cherry tomatoes for convenience. Hummus is also an excellent protein packed snack!
*Air popped popcorn. If you make popcorn yourself, you loose all the added chemicals from store bought microwave popcorn and you can flavor your own popcorn with a variety of delicious toppings such as dried herbs, Parmesan cheese, or plain salt.
* Fruit. Nature's fast food! If you are traveling with kids, check out Pinterest for cute ways of packing fruit, grapes in the shape of a butterfly using a ziploc bag and a clothespin comes to mind! You could also draw a silly face on a banana!
* Cheese Sticks. That's right, these old time favorites are not just for the kiddos. They come in a variety of flavors to satisfy any pallet. Try the sharp cheddar or the pepper jack varieties! These are also very easy to throw into a cooler.
As with any trip, be sure you are staying hydrated! Pack the cooler with extra water bottles, or make detox water with fruit so you are not ordering a coke in a pinch.
